Despite opening two years previously in April 2014, it wasn't until this time last year that I managed to visit the magnificent Kelpies - even with being so conveniently placed for me half way between my sister in Glasgow and my mum in Perth!!!
I've always been an admirer of Andy Scott's work, particularly the beautiful Arria that I regularly pass on my trips north - though that's another one I've still to see up close and personal rather than whizzing by on the A80 at Cumbernauld!!! - and I loved watching the BBC2 documentary about Andy's 8 year project to bring The Kelpies to life.
And we couldn't have had a more perfect day for our visit - sunshine, blue skies and fluffy white clouds - though I have a feeling they would look magnificent whatever the weather! Words really can't describe what it was like to see these amazing sculptures appear first from the motorway, then over the brow of the hill in the carpark looking down over the park, to right up close, to ultimately being able to see inside.
If you're ever in the area you simply must go! Plus The Falkirk Wheel just down the road is pretty impressive too!
