I met Michelle early on this summer who, alongside her husband, had taken over The Royal Exchange in Hartpury, a village local to them, the previous August. The pub was in a bit of a sorry state and had next to no custom, but after an incredibly short time to completely refurbish it - they weren't even shut for two months! - the transformation was complete and they are now proud owners of a thriving freehouse pub which is busy every night of the week!
Stocking real ale, cider, perry and a wide range of wines they also serve locally sourced, home-cooked and seasonal food prepared by Matt - who coincidentally started his career as a pot washer in the pub in the 90's! Oak beams, a roaring double sided log burner, pine and flag floors, herbs on the tables and great gardens then all make the food and drink experience at The Royal Exchange even more pleasurable!
When Michelle got in touch they were looking for images to enhance the new website they had planned. Images that really showed what they were all about - in essence a really friendly, welcoming pub with great food and drink!
So over three different sessions we set about capturing all aspects of this vibrant pub - from their (very!) local beef supplier Roger, to the lambs from their own farm, the food being prepared, the final (and quite delicious!) dishes, the interiors, the gardens - in fact all the way through to seeing the moon at night above their heated, covered deck!
Lots of fun was had along the way and we ended up with a fantastic bank of images to choose from. A few of my favourites are below but do head on over to their great new website from Alex at Amp Web Design to see a few more - and of course to plan your visit!
