A slightly different piece of work to my usual! However I was thrilled to get a call from the PR agency for RRS Discovery (who're based in my home town of Perth of all places!!) earlier on this year asking if I could help out.
The historic Antarctic exploration ship, now a visitor attraction in Dundee, is going through an extensive piece of renovation and last November saw its masts and rigging removed in a painstaking 3-week operation by T. Nielsen, the historic ship experts based at Gloucester Docks. The work is going well and with two members of the RRS Discovery team paying a visit to discuss the renovation's progress the other month, I was asked to go along and capture the team at work.
A fascinating place and really interesting to find out more about what they were up to - and good fun trying to work around a BBC film crew, another photographer from the local paper, a busy yard with lots of other work going on and increasingly poor and rainy weather!!!
Looking forward to seeing the fully renovated pieces later on this year!
