I was so excited to be asked back in March if I was free to go to Hampton Court Palace and photograph Lucy Worsley, the Chief Curator of Historic Royal Palaces and historical author for a feature in WI Life.
Luckily I was free, and on a glorious Spring morning I headed down to London. And is always the way when you want to make sure you get through Oxford without hitting the hideous rush hour traffic, I arrived super early!! Though it did mean I had time for a wee wander around the beautiful grounds and get a feel for this fabulous Palace (and to try and calm my nerves!).
We tried a few locations for the portrait images - as you can imagine Lucy knows the Palace like the back of her hand - whereas I just got completely disorientated - it's enormous with lots of twisty turny corridors!! And then it was up to her fabulously eclectic office for a cup of tea and the interview with Hattie, the editorial assistant from WI Life.
And then I had to keep quiet about it all until now! Not an easy task!
Like the other shoot which appears in this issue too, I've been playing the guessing game about which images will make the final edition. I so hoped the pouring tea shot would make the cut - as soon as I took it I thought how perfect it was for WI Life - and so you can imagine I had a big smile on my face when I opened the article and saw it there in print!
